What are the restrictions on NRI trading in India?

  • Buy Today, Sell Tomorrow and short-selling is not allowed.
  • Intraday trading in shares is not permitted.
  • NRI cannot trade in commodities.
  • Currency trading is not available.
  • NRI can trade in equity F&O using NRO account only and after getting a CP code from custodian.
  • NRI can invest in mutual funds through non-PIS account only.
  • USA and Canada based NRIs are not allowed to invest in mutual funds in India.
