What are the documents required to open NRI trading and demat account in India?

NRIs need to provide the following set of documents to their respective stockbrokers to open an NRI Demat account in India;

  • Passport-size photograph of NRI investor
  • Scanned copy of the applicant’s PAN Card
  • Foreign or overseas address proof
  • Valid copy of visa and passport
  • NRE or NRO Bank account proof
  • Duly filled and signed NRI Account opening form
  • PIS approval letter

All of these above documents must be signed or attested by the Banker, Indian Embassy, Notary, or any other competent authority.
