Zerodha Kite vs 5Paisa Mobile App, which one is better?

I have a trading account with 5paisa and Zerodha so I can tell you the differences in mobile app of both.

• Login: 5paisa mobile app is more secure as they have a 4 digit key based password. So you need to set your 4 digit key when you login first time with the mobile app. Every day you need to login with your trading user id, password, and date of birth and then you can use your 4 digit pin to login for rest of the day. With Zerodha once you login one time in a day and doesn't log out, you remain login all day.
• Single Sign-in: 5Paisa has single sign-in for Equity, NFO, NCD, F&O, Currency, Mutual Funds, Insurance, and IPO. Zerodha has 2 different mobile app: “Kite” for equity & currency trading and “Coin” for Mutual Funds and Bonds.
• Dashboard: Dashboard of 5Paisa has more ad of their products like Insurance, money making ideas, referral program, advance research, mutual fund, investment advisor and so on. You will not get a custom watchlist by default. You need to go to your own watchlist and set that as default to come on the dashboard. Zerodha Kite directly takes you on your personal watchlist, so you don’t have to move across the screen once login.
• Watchlist: Watchlist of 5Paisa mobile app has features like Research, Detail, Buy and Sell options. Under Detail, you will get Info, Market depth, charts.
  • Info: This section have Open, High, low Pre Close, volume, 52 week high and low, market cap and exposure details.
  • Market Depth: This section has best 5 bids and best 5 asked.
  • Charts: 1D,1M,3M,1Y and 5Y basic charts are available. Advance chart options have many more features. There is button on top of graph window for quick buy and sell.
  • F&O: Next section is for derivatives trading.

  Here I feel that Market depth and Info must be included in same section so no need to switch window. Detail section is also opening in separate window, which can just be a popup/sidebar on same page. Zerodha Kite has better navigation for this information.

• Buy and Sell Options: This is standard feature in all mobile apps. However, CO and BO options are not available in 5Paisa mobile app which is in most demand from traders where they can reduce risk and get high leverage/margin. Stop loss option is available.
• Reports: All basic reports which include Net Position, My Holdings, Ledger, Order Books, Trade Book, Margin, Exposure List and Exchange Messages is available in 5Paisa mobile app.
• Price Alerts: You can set price alerts, which is missing in Zerodha Kite. Zerodha has ad-on tool “Sentinel” for triggers and alerts.
• Margin Calculator: Basic Margin Calculator is available in 5paisa mobile app, this will work only for 1 script at a time and provide you SPAN and Exposure margin details if you want to buy/sell derivatives products. Zerodha do have SPAN Margin calculator, but not available in Kite Mobile app, but Span Margin calculator version is advance and will take care of multiple F&O trades and give you comprehensive margin.
• Advance Research: This is the paid service of 5Paisa and available for all clients who wish to buy this product. It's integrated in 5paisa mobile app, so you can directly access research reports.
• Notifications: Live notification/news from Market.
• Mutual Fund: You can start investing in MF SIP or Lum-Sum using 5paisa Mobile app. 5Paisa is providing regular plan in MF investment. Coin by Zerodha is a separate mobile app for Mutual Fund investment in direct plans.

At the end, I can say that I have used both Zerodha Kite and 5Paisa mobile app. I personally found that Zerodha Kite app is well advance but 5Paisa app is also very competitive. The 5paisa app has all the features which you need for trading and investment purpose. Single sign-on feature make this more helpful, online fund transfer, pay in and pay out options, mutual fund investment, access of advance research, alerts and notification are available on your finger tips. Current Mobile app has bit navigation issue which can be overcome in the future release, but overall 5paisa is complete trading/investment mobile app and you can opt 5paisa as your discount broker.
