Hindustan Construction Company Limited was incorporated in January 1926. We are one of the largest construction companies and one of the oldest infrastructure development companies in India. The Company is primarily engaged in the following business segments: (i) Engineering and Construction, (ii) Infrastructure Development, (iii) Comprehensive Urban Development and Management and (iv) Real Estate Development. While the engineering and construction business is operated directly by the Company, the other businesses are housed in some of its subsidiaries.

The company has an order backlog in four main sectors within the Engineering and Construction segment and for Steiner. The order backlog as of September 30, 2018, on a consolidated basis (including Steiner) was ₹ 28,714 billion, which includes the residual value of work to be performed under existing contracts. 14% of the order book was for the hydropower projects, 39% for the transportation projects, 5% for the water projects, 9% for the nuclear and special projects and 33% for Steiner (excluding the order book of Steiner India as the main contractor for Lavasa). No order backlog is reported for the other divisions.
